Cold outside
We really got spoiled last week with the hot weather. Today I have 62 degrees and the wind it blowing out of the North. After last week this is Parka weather. It is a great day to cut wood though. Last weeks activities went great. The rain show we got on Saturday held off until after the Mission Parade was finished. The house burn was great training not only for Mission but all the departments that showed up. Today I noticed that the June berry’s are getting ripe. They taste so good. We will have our June Berry pie by the end of the week. The kids love picking them, the problem is we eat half of what we pick for the pie, this causes us to pick longer. It defiantly is worth the wait after mama pulls the pie out of the oven.

Merrifield Location
Merrifield MN is located 7 short miles North of Brainerd on CR 3. It is a small town that has a lot to offer. The Paul Bunyan Trail goes right through the West side of Merrifield along the East side of North Long Lake right past the Train Bell Resort. The Merrifield Cafe is a great place for breakfast, really good food for a very decent price. It has a Post Office, Super America, and the Wagon Wheel is a place for refreshments. Merrifield also offers a place to get your boat fixed at Hanson's Marine, a car wash and laundry mat at Merri Wash N Stor. Buy flowers or have dirt delivered from Yardmen Greenhouse and Landscaping. We event have our own concrete business, Sather Concrete Products INC. You can even buy and sell antiques in this very friendly town.

County Road 3 Construction
Merrifield residents and people traveling to Crosslake from Brainerd have had to put up with delays while County Rd 3 was under construction. Well, I am glad to announce that the main road construction is over and what a great road we have to drive on now. In April and through the first week in June, CR3 was resurface from CR19 to just past CR11, this was an eight mile stretch of road that in some places the potholes were big enough to almost take your tire off of your vehicle. Now that this is done it is like driving on a bunch of pillows. Thank you Tri-City Paving for doing such a spectacular job. We, the residents even ended up with new mailbox posts. As of today 6/11/2009, the only thing left to finish are the white lines. NOTE: at night it is really hard to see were the ditch is with the new blacktop!
